ABOUT THE WRITER

In a reasonably clean apartment bedroom, Matt Maben sits at his desk, frustrated.

He’s trying to think of reasons why someone should hire him, but can’t find the right words.

Matt: “Why don’t I just write about what I want to do?”

  2. I want to work with cool people.

  3. I wan—

On a blank piece of paper, he begins to write out a list:

Suddenly, a deep, familiar voice interrupts Matt's writing.

It's Morgan Freeman, and he starts narrating. Matt begins to listen intently.

Morgan Freeman: “What Matt fails to realize is that he is missing the point entirely. No one really cares about what he wants. They want to know what he can do for them.”

“Thanks... Morgan Freeman.”

Matt says, as his confusion quickly turns into focus. He then reaches for a blank piece of paper and begins to write:

“I’m a creative person who starts with a feeling and turns it into something memorable. I’m a perfectionist who embraces the realness of imperfection. I may not have all the answers, but I’ll ask the right questions. Most importantly, I care a lot—enough to build a whole page just to show you how my brain works.”

The screen fades to black, accompanied by the smooth sounds of jazz music.
